How to Install Stone Coated Metal Roof Tiles: Step-by-Step
Stone coated metal roof tiles install fast when the crew follows a few key rules. This guide walks through the sequence we give our own distributors — from battens to ridge caps.
1. Prepare Battens
Fix horizontal timber or steel battens over the rafters or a solid deck at the batten gauge specified for your tile profile. Correct spacing sets the overlap and keeps courses straight.
2. Set the First Course
Start at the eave, check the first row is dead level with a string line, and fix through the pre-formed nailing zone. A straight first course makes every row above it easy.
3. Overlap & Fasten
Lay tiles with the head and side overlaps the profile is designed for, and drive fasteners at the specified points — usually into the batten through the tile front or shed lip. Do not over-drive; the tile should sit flat, not dimpled.
4. Ridges, Hips & Valleys
Finish with matching ridge and hip caps bedded over the top course, and use proper valley trays for water channels. Seal cut edges and penetrations with compatible flashing.
Follow the fixing detail sheet supplied with your order — it defines fastener count and overlap for the warranty to apply.
