Buying Roof Tiles from a China Manufacturer — FAQ

Straight answers to the questions importers and distributors ask most before placing a first order with a China roofing manufacturer.

What is the MOQ and lead time?

Minimum order is one 20ft container — roughly 1,000 m² of stone-coated metal tiles with accessories, mixed loading supported. Lead time is 15-25 working days after deposit; stock colours ship faster.

Can I get samples and certification?

Yes — free A4-size product samples are provided (buyer covers courier). Products are made under ISO9001 with material test reports and CE-compliance documentation available; see our certificates.

What payment and shipping terms?

Typical terms are 30% deposit with balance against the B/L copy; FOB, CIF and CFR are all available. We export to 50+ countries — send your destination port for a landed quotation.

How to verify a China roofing factory before ordering

A reliable supplier should be able to explain the material structure, production schedule, packing plan and accessory system, not only send a low unit price. Ask for recent product photos, packaging photos, production or loading photos, and test documents that match the product category you plan to buy. For stone-coated metal tiles, pay attention to steel base, AZ coating, stone granule bonding and colour consistency. For synthetic resin tiles, check ASA surface layer, sheet thickness, fire-retardant class and UV resistance.

Before depositConfirm proforma invoice, model, colour, thickness, accessory list, lead time, payment term and destination port.
During productionRequest colour confirmation, sample or production photos, and packing label confirmation.
Before balanceCheck finished-goods photos, packing list, container loading plan and B/L draft information.
After arrivalKeep installation guide, batch information and spare accessories for after-sales support.

For long-term importers, the first order should test the whole communication chain: sample, quotation, production, loading, documents and after-sales response. If a supplier cannot answer accessory quantity or packing questions clearly, the first landed cost may look attractive but the project risk is higher. A stable factory relationship is built by repeatable specifications and clear documents.

Documents, inspection and after-sales FAQ

What should I inspect before the container leaves China?

Check finished product photos, colour code, profile, accessory quantity, packing labels, pallet or bundle condition and the loading plan. For stone-coated metal tiles, ask for close photos of surface texture and edge finishing. For synthetic resin tiles, ask for cross-section or side photos so the sheet thickness and ASA layer can be discussed before shipment.

Which documents help customs and local sales?

Most buyers need commercial invoice, packing list, bill of lading and certificate of origin when required. For local sales, product photos, installation guide, test reports and warranty statement are also useful. If your country has special import requirements, tell us before production so the document name and consignee details can be checked early.

How do we reduce risk on the first order?

Start with one main profile and a limited number of fast-moving colours instead of spreading the first container across too many options. Confirm samples first, then confirm a complete accessory list. After arrival, keep a small stock of ridge cap, side cap, screws and repair pieces because contractors often need extra accessories during the first local projects.
